BREIF OVERVIEW
Ross is an award-winning, on the box VFX Supervisor, highly regarded for his commercial work. Ross began his career in the VFX industry at The Mill London. He later worked with MPC for over ten years, where he was instrumental in establishing its Los Angeles office and restructuring their film pipeline for a commercial environment. Throughout his prolific career, Ross has worked with top directors and VFX artists, including Robert Stromberg, Rupert Sanders, John Dykstra, and many others. During his time a MPC, along with working in London and LA, Ross also worked out of their NYC, Vancouver, and Mexico offices.
At Method LA, Ross’s work style allowed him to bring stories to life by aligning agencies’ creative ideas with directors’ artistic visions. Ross liaises with clients throughout all stages of production, while spearheading the efforts for bidding, quoting and pitching new business. He is known for his dedication to craft at all levels, as well as his effortless ability to keep the mood light on projects of any size or duration. During his two years at Method LA,
Ross led several different secure projects, a Target Christmas campaign, and a variety of commercials, music videos, TV trailers and feature film shots.
Working at Eight VFX, Ross added to the expanding company by bringing his knowledge of big shop working processes to a successful boutique. Working on commercials, music videos and features such as Melanie Martinez's “Mad Hatter”, Darren Aronofsky’s “Mother”, RPA and Craig Gillespie's
“Apartments.com” and "NBA 2K 19" with Lebron James directed by The Malloys.
Joining Artjail NYC gave Ross the opportunity to finally put all this industry experience into practice. After re-connecting with some old industry friends he set to work with building the VFX pipeline and generating their first CG department. This involved finding and hiring the software engineers and external vendors to craft the most efficient pipeline and taking the workflow to the cloud - allowing Artjail to expand to multiple sites in the US. Throughout his time at Artjail he built a dynamic CG team, ranging from handpicked Junior and Senior artists. He closely mentored each artist to build a road maps for their futures career goals, all whist working closely with clients, set supervising, exploring new softwares and working on the box.
Ingenuity LA was great exposure to working with a pure TV company; before then Ross had been jumping between commercials, TV and Film. During his time he got to work with some very talented artists and Supervised a handful of TV shows
After long consideration and for the first time Ross became freelance. Considering a bit of a swiss army knife due to all his lucky industry opportunities, Ross can work as an artist, CG / VFX sup, set supervise and Creative Direct...... basically, figure it out and get it done
Ross’s noteworthy credits include “Little Blue Pill” for Fiat, one of the most memorable spots of the 2015 Super Bowl, and “What Lives Inside” starring Oscar winner J.K. Simmons, for Intel’s groundbreaking “Inside Films” series. Additional credits include Xbox “Ryse: Son of Rome,” EA “Ignite,” Dell “Thomas,” and DirecTV “Hot House,” which earned numerous awards for best visual effects from Clio, AICP, and more.
Ross holds degrees in 3D Craft and Product Design from the University of Brighton, and Computer Modeling and Animation from Bournemouth University.
